Federal Health Minister, Leona Aglukkaq, announced the release of an H1N1 flu virus preparedness guide that will provide individuals and organizations with information on how to prevent the spread of H1N1 flu virus, as well as how to make the right decisions to protect themselves, employees, friends and their families.

The guide, titled Your H1N1 Preparedness Guide, will also help identify the symptoms and risks, and show how to care for someone who is sick. It also includes information to find additional resources from local sources. The guide is a collaborative work of experts across provinces and territories in Canada and sponsored by the Public Health Agency of Canada.

The guide will be distributed directly to healthcare professionals, organizations that support populations at risk (e.g., people with underlying medical conditions, young children and pregnant women) and other healthcare stakeholders. The guide will also be available at 6,600 Canada Post offices across the country.
