Another Successful Year Reported at AGM
The BC HRMA annual general meeting, held June 24th at the Coast Coal Harbour Hotel, was an evening of recognition and celebration.
A new Board of Directors was elected and included the additions of Janice Antaya-Finlayson CHRP, Gregory Conner CHRP, David DeLong CHRP, Mike Desjardins and Peter Saulnier CHRP.
Outgoing directors Drew Railton CHRP (Past President), Dan Bradshaw CHRP, Vyviane Burton CHRP, Jock Finlayson and Dawn Robson CHRP were thanked for their contributions to BC HRMA.
Jay-Ann Fordy, president of BC HRMA, provided an overview of the current status of the association, highlighting a few key achievements of the past year:

Membership growth reached 5,015 in April 2010.

CHRP graduates and candidates will reach 60% of the voting BC HRMA membership by June 2010.

BC HRMA scored a 75% satisfaction rating in the annual member survey.

Conference scored an 88% satisfaction rating

Professional development scored an 87% satisfaction rating

The professional development program has created an HR Career Path Tool which is scheduled to be introduced to the online community during the next fiscal year.

The Knowledge and Research function has continued to grow with the expansion of the HR Metrics Service.

Successfully launched a members-only online community
Fordy also recognized BC HRMA’s solid strategic plan for continuing the association’s success leading to 2014 and beyond. As the voice of HR in British Columbia, BC HRMA is maintaining the focus on three distinct strategic goals:

Value – successfully sustain a service delivery model that optimizes member value and meets the needs of the business community across British Columbia

Voice – BC HRMA is the accepted voice of the human resources profession and organizational leadership in British Columbia

Viability – achieve and maintain financial and operational viability
