BC HRMA Webcast Trilogy Brings Conference 2012 Home
By Christian Codrington
“Faith is taking the first step even when you don’t see the whole staircase.”
That quote from Martin Luther King Jr. certainly wasn’t referring to organizational change or implementing new member engagement initiatives. The quote does, however, speak to the human conditions and emotions that accompany any change.
Many of us are asked to do things differently, drive higher topline growth, reduce costs, or introduce a new process to deliver better customer service. And doing things differently brings up lots of questions: Where to begin? What if this initiative fails? There can be a lot of unknowns. The end result may be clear in our minds but the beginning is blurry.
You can make that first step of the staircase more distinct with creative and collaborative visioning, strong organizational skills, and clear communications. The speakers featured in BC HRMA’s first ever webcast trilogy from this past conference drive these points home:
Ted Kuntz – Thriving in an Uncertain Future
Kuntz approaches the presentation from a heartfelt personal challenge and asks what we are doing to “feed the positive wolf within each of us”. He implores us to question the stories we tell ourselves and examine what is driving us to higher places.
Russel Horwitz – Get Focused, Organized and More Productive
Horwitz makes a compelling case to think about your work differently and demonstrates easy-to-implement steps to get organized, which in turn can lead to a more productive and stress-free life.
Diane Ross – ConversationSports: Training for your Challenging Talks
Ross tackles the ongoing challenge of effective communications. Ross shows a step-by-step approach, including a very straightforward model to stay focused, to prepare for and deliver those tough conversations. She delivers her insights in a very straight up and casual manner and anchors her points with audience role play.
With an inspired vision, the organizational skills necessary to juggle a number of balls and strong communication tools, the likelihood of climbing the staircase to success is high.
