While the Canadian recession has technically been over for some time, it will not have escaped the notice of many Canadian business people that the recovery period has been marked by slow and careful growth. But for the last year, it seems that Canadian business has begun shedding its cautiousness in favor of more rapid rebuilding. At first, they approached that task by handling one issue at a time — compensation, retention, recruitment, etc. Now, however, there is a desire to move forward on everything at once, and at the heart of this recovery is Human Resources; Not just in terms of HR’s ability to recruit and retain talent — talent which may feel more secure in looking for work elsewhere now — but also with respect to growth and creation within the department itself.
