The Shape of Things to Come
Since the beginning, HRVoice.org worked small wonders as an internal communications tool for BC HRMA members. From industry related news and reviews to upcoming member events, it has served its bi-weekly function well enough for the past five years.
The thing is this: the world has changed a great deal, both online and off.
Big things have broken down. Smaller things have sped up. We used to sit down for the 6 o’clock news. Now the couch, clock and current affairs of the entire globe are compressed into wireless wonders that both sit on our laps and rest in the palm of our hand. While we still enjoy the ritual of a good read, more and more of us are finding that read in a digital format.
When it comes to timely information though, we have come to expect the world – at our fingertips, anytime, anywhere. The way we pursue information has changed and so have the tools with which it is provided.
No longer is HRVoice.org alone in providing BC HRMA members with that information. From ongoing webinars to the members-only BC HRMA Online Community to the Metrics Dashboard to the association’s presence on both LinkedIn and Facebook, our online initiatives have widened in scope.
At BC HRMA, as throughout the business world, communications are now an ongoing affair. Aside from the quarterly regularity of PeopleTalk magazine, BC HRMA communications are a fairly 24-7 affair.
“What we hope you enjoy most about the new HRVoice.org site is its combination of accessibility and authority. It has both a new purpose and a distinctly different pulse than before, entrusted with delivering thought-leadership on an ongoing and of-the-moment basis,” said Simon Evans, CEO of BC HRMA. “Using the online tools now available, we were able to bring the many voices of BC HRMA together under the HRVoice.org banner and the searchable aspect of the site makes navigating both fresh and functional.”
The bi-weekly scheduling of HRVoice.org updates, once cutting edge, required an overhaul. And so it has been done. The consolidated content stream includes ongoing input from HRVoice.org’s regular contributors, supplemented by editorial flows from ResearchVoice, PeopleTalk and a crew of bloggers never lacking for opinion.
Along the top bar of the site, you will also find quick and easy links to other core online sites for BC HRMA members, including the BC HRMA homepage, the Calendar of Events, the Metrics Dashboard, CHRP and a link to the upcoming Conference 2011.
What we have aimed for with the new HRVoice.org is a combination of form and function befitting the Web 2.0 world. Comprehensively broken out by both topic and source, easily browsable either by keyword search or tag cloud and now connecting to all other aspects of BC HRMA’s online presence, HRVoice.org has evolved.
Naturally, that evolution is ongoing and will be shaped in part by how you choose to use the new site. Will you burrow down into the HR news of the moment, explore best practices in strategic leadership or click over to explore an upcoming BC HRMA event? The choices, as always are up to you.
That said, more than ever, this is a site for you – the HR professional. Feel free to comment on any article and pass along firm feedback on what does – and what might not – work for you on the new HRVoice.org.
